So this weekend is Mother’s Day, and in church the little children were going to sing two songs in front of the congregation about mothers. Last night I got a call saying the regular piano player was out of town and her replacement got sick. So I had to step in. I swear playing the piano always comes in handy. Fortunately little kid church songs don’t require much practice or preparation, so I managed to pull it off pretty well.
I decided this means I need to teach piano lessons to my kids when we have them and they get old enough. In fact, since everyone at church knows I’m one of the only people in the entire congregation that can play the piano I might get requests to teach their kids piano lessons too. That could be a fun little side business. And a good excuse to get a sweet baby grand.
My brother Andrew came to visit this weekend with his wife and three kids. They loved my rebounder mini-trampoline…the 3 kids that is. We had a good time. They said it was in the 40′s when they left Logan and when they got to St. George it was just about 90. We took the kids swimming and they had a blast with Andrew in his speedo.
This marks weekend number 6 in a row with visitors I believe. We have had Andrew and family twice, Michele’s sister Noelle and her husband, Noelle’s former roommate Lacey and her soon-to-be husband, my brother Ethan, Michele’s sister Jannifer and her husband…the list keeps going. And we get my in-laws next weekend and Ethan with his family again two weeks after that.
Then comes June where we go to northern Utah for Michele’s family reunion the first weekend, a wedding the second weekend, another wedding the third weekend and then my family reunion the last weekend and then San Jose for the Fourth of July. At that point I think no one will come to see us and we won’t go see anyone until Thanksgiving, it will be time for a break.
Don’t get me wrong, I love all the visitors and being able to go visit people as well. I think by mid-July when that all slows down and our new house is almost done, then it will be nice to focus on finishing the house and moving in. What a crazy few months we have coming ahead of us!
That’s ok, better busy than bored I always say. Hopefully all of you have fun summer plans to keep you busy as well. If not, you may want to consider a short trip to St. George. Just give me some advance warning, we have a busy hotel in our guestroom

I don’t think I can count the number of piano solos you came up with back in the 28th ward. I recall they worked out pretty well for you back then, too.
